Halloween Skeleton Mini Tag Album

Halloween is quickly creeping up on us and it's time to start sharing our spooky Halloween mini album creations.

Wendy Cusky has a fantastic tag book to share with a scary (slightly macabre) theme to it. I love the way it turned out. The skeleton embellishment of the front is seriously ick! Just as it should be.

She has scrapped a small hostess gift tag album with a treat box "case" that she hand made for a friend. She has covered each tag with patterned paper but only embellished the front so that her friend can put bigger pictures of her Halloween party on the other pages if she wishes.

It is made using a couple of neat techniques and with a few bits and pieces including skeleton beads (bargain at $1) salvaged from a necklace, lace, spider webbing and a plastic spider. See more pics and tips on how she made her Halloween skeleton Mini Tag Album

looking for mini album inspiration for your next mini project? Check out these two random Mini Albums that have caught my attention in the past. I've added them to my list of projects i am yet to create! lol.I have always wanted to use Nail Varnish on an arty project. Alexandra has made these clever tag mini books and embellished them with nail polish.
Pennants, especially pennant banners are hot, they're at birthday parties and wedding celebrations, and i seem them framed as wall art, and now you have a mini pennant notebook.

I found these little darlings at the cheap psychology blog. They'd make great little gifts or party favors at birthdays. Easy to make with or without the accucut die cutting machine that Doris used to create her pennant minis. After all they are simple triangles.

Crocheted Mini Scrapbook

Have you ever tried blending a crafting passion that you have with another to create something totally unique. Say Painting and sewing, knitting and card making. Kerri has used a combination of two crafting techniques that she is passionate about, making mini albums and crochet. While is may sound like an unusual mix the end product is this gorgeous hand crocheted mini book.

As you can see each page has been hand crocheted around the edges to create a detailed border. The album is even bound together using a single crochet stitch.

Follow along with Kerris Crocheted Mini Scrapbook tutorial to create this fab little mini album. If you don't know how to crochet then pick up a 'crochet for dummies' book from your library. Or you can simple google 'how to crochet'

I learned the basic single crochet(sc) double crochet (dc) and a half double crochet stitch in under an hour when i needed to make a baby cocoon photography prop that i just had to have. It's really quite easy. I'll take crochet over knitting any day.

Skye Hardaway from The Work of Heart Photography is having a huge giveaway. Skye is a Professional photographer who specializes in child photography. She shares all her photography tips and secrets through workshops and her workshop workbook.

Now I actually purchased the 'Workshop Workbook' about 8 months ago (on sale of course) Love the posing guide. As a wannabe photographer i love that she lets you in on what she carries in her oh-so-funky camera bag and most of the photos let on her blog and facebook page tell you what lens and actions she used. I think to myself "Now wait on a minute, I have that lens so why can't i do that" so then i go off with my camera in hand and practice for what i know is an attainable shot.

The workbook is great too. Sky shows you her methods for post processing her pics. There are also forms and docs to use if you are getting into professional photography. She covers everything you would need to know as a pro photographer. A guide like this would seriously save your life, well, it will save you a heap of time at the very least.

Coca Cola Can Mini Scrapbook

To celebrate Earth Day The Two Paper Divas created these super cute mini notebooks made from recycled coke cans.
I am a huge fan of upcycling products and this mini is definitely a great way to both create something fab and useful and show our planet a bit of love.

Two bits of news for you all today.

The first is that we have a new mini book tutorial over at scrapbook-crazy. It's for a super mini bottle cap mini book and has been made with...yep, you guessed it...bottle tops or milk bottle lids to be more exact. Love the upcycled mini albums.

It's has been written for us by Kerri Steward from Kerri's crafts which brings me to my second piece of news. We have a new team member, although i'm not really sure if i had a team to begin with since i was really just a solo act until now. Well whatever Scrapbook Crazy had before, it has a team now! Woohoo, so exciting.

Baby Diaries Mini Album

Here are a couple of cute mini albums sent in to us by Blossom Inch. The first is titled 'Baby Girl' and is a gorgeous fabric and felt album. Love all the pretty fabrics used to make this one.
The second is called 'Baby Diaries' made with paper bags, patterned papers and an assortment of embellishments. I Totally love that title, very clever.

Glenda made this very sweet gate fold accordion mini album - (sheez what a mouthfull)
Full of fun and summer her mini album
She used the wonderful instructions from the Scrapbook-Crazy.com website and made it for the first time with hardly a glitch. She plans to use it with pics of family and friends in our pool. She used lots of pretty Amy Butler papers and lots of cricut cuts as well. Stickles for glitter and gel pens for accents, too. Made in a single day it is ready to be filled with memories in a snap.

A Mini fold out scrapbook

I was scrapping up a storm this weekend, so much to do and so little time.

Amongst a few other things I made a little flip out mini book for my Nan. I am yet to round up all the photos that akw and I have taken with the Fuji Instax to pop into it but I couldn't resist posting these pics now.

I made it with Bazzill and patterned card paper from the BoBunny Mama-Razzi range which I just love... The only other bits I added to it were a small key chain and a couple of small flower eyelets to thread the chain through. The eyelets lends the album a bit of strength so that the chain doesn't simply tear the card.

A very cool stumpwork mini fabric book

Love this stumpwork mini fabric book made by Beth Lea from the Bluebell Wood blog. In case you were wondering, Stumpwork is another type of embroidery, it's 3 dimensional and is often referred to as raised work. It was popular in the olden days (around the late 1600 - 1700's)

This little mini is only 2 inches high.

Beth has really done a great job putting this together (It makes me want to add stumpwork to my growing list of crafts i want to learn.... sigh)

See Gabi's free tutorial to make this funky cool mini book. It is written in german (i think) but the clear pictures show you exactly how to make this mini scrapbook.
I love the binding on this album, it's reminds me of a corset laced up with ribbon.
Keep your memories safe within. I'd love to make this mini album for myself....sigh... one of the many projects i am yet to get around to.

make a Cupcake Mini Album

Leslie makes this cute Sweet Angel Cupcake Mini Album.
Using old or scratched cd's create a "chain" by gluying 2" of ribbon to a cd. This can be repeated until you have 4 or 5 cd's (pages) to play with. Glue patterned paper to all the cd's covering the ribbon. Add your photos, envelopes, chipboards, flowers, rub ons, etc to album. For the top I used a 5" foam ball. I punched 1" circles and glued to ball, then added ball to a 5" circle covered with a doilie. For the base I used a cd case. I trimmed the case with paper and added chipboard, rub ons, flower and bling. At the top of the cupcake add layers of flowers and a pin. Scrapbook Desk Calendar

Vanessa wanted to share with us her scrapbook desk calendar creation with us. Using our Paper bag calendar idea (http://www.scrapbook-crazy.com/paper-bag-calendar.html) She came up with this variation.
She used a 6x12 piece of double sided cardstock for each month, kept the wonderful "tag" insert idea, and embellished each month with things specific to the month.

License Plate Mini Album Tutorial

Wow 2010 already. I've just arrived home after a month long holiday and itching to scrap something.
Here is a mini album to make a mini book with license plates. They use a bind it all machine so you will need to have access to one. If you don't you can maybe use some sort of power tool. You will also need some wire cutters, the wire coil and a piece of chipboard for the back cover, cardstock for your pages and of course some license plates.
You can use any old license plates or you can pick some up from your scrapbook store.

My dd is finishing her first year of school next week and already she has received 15 or so candy canes and Christmas cards from her classmates.
I haven't yet gotten around to organising the Christmas cards yet so this arvo akw and I will be furiously making our cards . I have lots of left over scrapbook christmas papers and some stamped, embossed and cut out baubles and trees from a few years back that will make the job a little easier....I hope.
I want to make the card a holder so that i can slip the candy cane inside it somehow. I have hunted around for a few ideas and this is what i've found for inspiration so far.

All the way from Buenos Aires we have a flower shaped mini album tutorial by Fernanda. The tutorial is in the form of a 2 part word document (you will find the links at the bottom of the post) Each page of the mini album is in the form of a petal and when assembled it opens up to make a pretty flower.
The tutorial includes a template for the petals, template for the different accents used and instructions. Now these instructions are written in Spanish but the pictures give you a general idea of what you should be doing.

The 1,000,000 Giraffes Project

Have you all seen the 1,000,000 Giraffes project before? Ola helland has been challenged to collect 1,000,000 girraffes by 2011. draw a girafe, make a giraffe, alter a giraffe and get your giraffe over to the 1,000,000 Giraffes project.
At the moment he has 318 103 giraffes and needs a whole heap more.

What does this have to do with making mini scrapbooks you ask? Why, not much at all unless you plan on making a giraffe shaped mini and sending the pic over to Ola....

A Non Scrapbook Mini Scrapbook!

Now what is that supposed to mean?!
Let's ask Lori from A Scrapmom's Musings if she can shed a little light...

This is a mini album created for a challenge on Scrapbooking and Crafting Friends (ning)in which the entire album had to be created from 'non-scrapbook related items'. In other words, nothing on it could be from a scrapping company. Everything had to be found objects, packaging, that sort of thing.

Lori's mini album was created from a photo album purchased at the dollar store with the photo pages removed. The papers are envies, cards, packaging, artwork, etc. Embellishment are all found items from the junk drawer, kids rooms, basement, garage, any where that you wouldn't expect to find items to use in a scrapbooking project.

Says Lori..
I have to admit, it was difficult at first, but once I got going, it was easy. The covering of the album is made out of worn out jeans. I acually used the pocket of the jeans to insert a clothing tag with the title "Zac" (recycled felt letters). The Wrangler tag is from a new pair of jeans--the '10' represents his age and "regular" represents that he's a typical boy! The pages in the book are created from chipboard (think cereal boxes and such) and covered with either envelopes, artwork or packaging and are kept together using old shoelaces.

This was a fun mini album and I suggest that everyone who loves mini's create one---see what you can find and create an album!

Making Plastic Bag Mini Scrapbooks

Now I know I tried making one of these a long time ago and I have probably already blogged about them here on SC but I had to post this tutorial to make a plastic bag mini book, or rather a mini book made from plastic bags (now i've confused myself) A great way to Upcycle.
So check out this youtube video tutorial.
In a nutshell you need 12 or more layers of plastic bag to make each page.
Iron the pages between some brown paper to make it all stick together and form a page. (you may want to experiment a little with this part - iron setting shouldn't be too hot)
Once you have your page you can paint them if you like then use them just like you would a chipboard page.
Pretty it up with pics and embellies, bind it and you're set.

Ceramic tile mini scrapbook

Just when I think I have seen every kind of mini album that can be possibly made, A mini album maker like Shallale Figaro goes and amazes me with a fresh new idea and think to myself..."now why didn't i think of that"

Now how gorgeous is this mini book? All the pretty colors and stamp designs... I want!

Shallale bought few squares ceramic tiles and decided to alter them for the cover of a minibook. All tiles are inked with alcohol ink then stamped with black staz-on and finally glazed with epoxy resin.

Cherry Pie Mini Scrapbook

I found this most awesome mini in our flickr group yesterday that I just had to share. Stacey from the Oh Scrap! blog has created this cute cherry pie mini scrapbook with digital scrappy stuff, pipe cleaners and godd ol creativityness which i swear looks good enough to eat (especially that cherry on top - made with a wooden bead and a piece of scrap leather)

I asked Stacey if she could share a little about how she made her mini and what inspired her and this is what she had to say...

My inspiration as always is my son. But the prompt 'Sweet' came from this great little contest blog called One Little Word. As soon as I saw the word sweet I thought of Sweet as Pie. Our (my family's) nickname is Pie... Piegirl, pieman and little baby pie :)

As soon as I thought of the idea the whole image appeared in my head - that I wanted to make the top of the pie a mini album and the base was just the pie plate. The base is a wooden box that I covered with the b/w pattern paper. I wanted to make the crust and the pipe cleaners just seem to work as it allowed it to be more flexible and added the bulk I needed. I have been blessed to have taken on my grandmother's thriftiness in making things out of unrelated items - so I am lucky that way. I also think living in a small town where you can't find all the craft supplies you want you must create your own.

Do you prefer making minis with digi kits to old fashioned papers? Would you make another?

I usually don't used digital papers all that often as I do have soooo much paper from the years of shopping and not creating. But none fit the cherry theme that I wanted and I found the digital kits. THis way I was able to have all the elements I love (buttons, flowers etc...) without the bulk....Make another??? Depends.... not sure...

This mini book was sent to us by Rowee. It's a ChipBoard album that she made for a gift and was inspired by the cuttlebug. The size is a bit smaller than a CD. It's a 4-page mini album. She used the cuttlebug embossing folder, DCWV papers and some prima flowers.

I have had tons of requests for a 2010 Scrapbook calendar printable so crafty peoples like yourself can get a jump on the Christmas presses and gifts for next year so I have made up a basic calendar printout for both A4 and 12x12 scrapbook paper.

The ever so creative Patti Lee made this sweet mini. A small Camera matchbox mini that holds a bunch of petite photos to enjoy. The finished size of this project is 2-3/4"x 2"x 3/4". The photo strip is 2-1/2" x 11" long and is removable.

fabric mini albums

This mini was made by Ramintessah. It's a mini album made from different fabrics, and it is the first one she has ever made. The album is about Ramintessah the first 2 years outside of her home country-Philippines. She has used paint as the main media in designing the pages of this fabulous mini album.

Fabric is definitely finding a place with not only scrapbooking but also with a lot of other paper crafts including stamping, card making. You can even make wedding invitations with fabric materials, Fabric pockets seem to be a growing trend with the DIY Bride. So grab your fabric scraps and get sewing.

Finished Altered Calendar

I finally finished my altered perpetual calendar that has been sitting in my scrapbook pile of unfinished craft projects. So i finally got out the hammer and nails to bang it all together which took no time at all. Covered it up with some pretty papers from the bobunny and scenic route range, printed the months, and rubbed on the numbers and wallah... one finished calendar form my desk.
Props to Wayne at the woodshed for sending me my calendar kit and saving me from attempting to cut one up myself and potentially losing a finger or two.

It's a beautiful day here in sunny sydney. A great day to share a couple of great little mini albums sent in by some of our readers.

Sarah's daughters fill her heart with so much joy, she filled a heart shaped album with their photos.

Beth Bugart shares her Domino Accordion Book too. It's a mini album made out of 2 dominoes and Bristol board accordion pages. It is painted with rich natural colors and a gold boarder and is held together with a gold ribbon. Nothing on the inside yet, still waiting for just the right thing to put inside. :)

Kraftykeepsakes shares her recycled cardboard mini scrapbook as well.

St Patty's mini book inspiration

I love green, it's my most favorite color. I just had to hunt around and find some St Patty's day mini lovin and I was not disappointed.

My favorite first up are these ultra cute green lucky felt speech bubbles from Etsy store owner Evalicious. There are phrases like: "kiss me i' irish", "lucky guy", "so lucky" and "green". Soooo cute. You can even pick up some matching paper flower buttons... It's not too late to grab some but you gotta be quick though, there are only 5 left.

Next up, Katie shows us how to make her Lucky envelope book with this cool little tutorial. Shoot over there for a look see. We also have our envelope mini scrapbook tutorial as well.

On the Creative Imaginations blog is this shamrock mini book made by Cheryl Mezzetti. Look a little further down the blog post and you will find the instructions to make this mini book with heart shaped pages.

And last but not least we have a house.... A St Patty's Day house made from cardboard and dressed up in green irish luck. campbelj45ca did a great job on this little beauty. A great project to keep the kiddies busy.

Maria's Shell Mini Travel Book

When i asked maria about her little shell mini this is what she had to say.

Gee, What is
This is my first mini book. It´s a travel book. Normally I do rather big -and heavy - books to take with me on holidays. This one was done in a couple of hours because I didn't have any time!

Did you leave it to the last minute?
I agreed on short notice to travel with a friend to Brasil, and it was like - "Do you want to go to Brasil there is a big discount now!?" and I was like "Ok let´s go!!" - and one week later we were on the beaches of Natal (Brasil).

Why the Shells?
As I had little time to prepare, I had to work with things I already had at home. The shells are from the wonderful beaches of "Cabanas" in Tavira - Algarve, Portugal. There are always lots of beautiful shells on that beach and I just can´t resist so I have tons of shells at home!

What else did you use?
The paper is handmade and was given to me when I visited the "Carvalha Gorda" Paper Mill some time ago - It was a trip organized by me, to show how ancient paper was made, to the class I was teaching.

What did you use it for in the end? How is it put together?
The book is a travel diary, it has one bi fólio (quire) for each day. The colors of the papers are all beach related, and there is actually one paper that has sand in it´s composition. So there are blue and yellow pages. Of course The book covers are shells because the trip was to the beaches of Natal. I dont know the scientific name of the shell I'll need to check. I made the book as you would make a medieval binding.

Domino Mini Scrapbook

I made my first ever domino mini book. So super simple to make. I received one with a sweet poem in it from a friend so i simply had to make one myself. I used some scraps of paper that were lying in the waste basket + the little half dress is from the back of a really old simplicity sewing pattern. I would say that this is a good way to use up those scrap bits of paper except that you don't really manage to reuse a whole heap of it - but it is still recycling so i still get bonus points i guess.

I wrote a quick tutorial to give you the basic run down of how you can make your own altered domino mini book.
Be warned... you have to get out the power drill which brings me to my hot tip of the day... make sure the cordless drill is charged before you start your project! Don't start with a nearly dead battery like i did then wait for 4hrs for it to recharge... grrrr

Just wanted to share some flickr yumminess today. starting with this yummy looking biscuit mini album. How cute is it! I just want to eat it up! Patrick picked it up in japan so it wasn't homemade. He has filled it with index prints and will be keeping it in his sons treasure box full of memories.

I love the theme for this baby gift mini album scrapbook by Lindsey Macdonald . She has made a super cute mini album for a friend who will be soon welcoming a brand new baby girl into the world.
The mini is actually for the baby. The first page says "...we hope you grow up just like you mom" and is filled with quirky stories from when mom was growing up.

It made me think back to what i was like growing up.
I wonder what my daughters mini would say if someone made one for her.
First 3 things that come to mind...

stay away from cousins with golf clubs OR keep your cheekiness to a minimum to avoid golf balls to the forehead.
eat 11 weetbix a day to keep my motors fuelled and running
Love playing sport (eating weetbix is good for this)

Winner of the scrapook perpetual calendar

After lots of calculating, scribbling, and cutting we have come up with a winner for the alterable perpetual calendar. In the end I numbered the slips 1 through 50 then added 4 more slips for each of those who shared the love and took out those that didn't belong (my comments etc)
Akw graciously consented to take time out from the Disney channel to pick a random winner out of the hat (or bowl in this case) If she had things her way we'd have twenty winners by now since apparently picking winners out of a bowl is way cool fun...

My Handmade Valentines Gifts

Okie dokie, pics of my last minute valentine's day treats for the fam made by my dd and me.
one for grandma, popstar, aunty char and aunty T, and one for dd's first ever teacher...

I whipped up some 'no glue required' fold up boxes to perfectly fit 3 Ferrer Roche chocolate treats. We decorated the boxes with scrapbooking papers by heidi grace, wrapped them up with cellophane and finished them with ribbon. By the time we got to making tags and finishing with the ribbon dd got restless (she even went so far as to say 'oh man mum... this is soooo boring" ) So we skipped the cute tags i had lined up and practiced tying shoelaces with the ribbon... kindergarten kids have no style sometimes...lol.

So I loved this gift idea so much that i thought i'd share a template with you all.

You are all probably thinking that we are well into the new year and that the time for giving out calendars as gifts has long passed no matter how cool they may look.
Not so, I say. I have recently discovered perpetual calendars... the type that never end, or at least the type you don't have to throw out (or recycle) at the end of the year. For those of you who have no idea what they are or how they tick they simply are a set of months and dates that you change daily to reflect the date. If you take a look at the pic below you will see how they work with this perpetual block calendar set made by Wayne. It has been crafted from wood and then decorated.

A new mini album tutorial for a waterfall scrapbpook at Scrapbook Crazy. It's kinda difficult to explain how they work. If you can imagine opening the front cover of a book, pulling a tab on the right hand side (attached to bottom page) and all the pages open one at a time as you pull.
Lots of fun and actually pretty easy to make once you get the hang of it. For those of you whom have made waterfall cards and used the waterfall technique in your scrapbook layouts will be very familiar with the techniques used here. But if you've never seen them before then I recommend practising on a scrap piece of paper first to get a feel for it.
So check it out, give it a whirl and let us know how you got on with it...

A fellow flickr buddy Le posted this photo recently. when i asked her how, what, where, why? She said...

'i made a lot of miniatures always using polymer clay...but this is a different project...in fact i looooove to take pictures as well...so, why not merge these two passions?? so, i created this mini album with some pictures of me and my husband in a size that a barbie doll could see and grab with her own hands! i love it!'

Found these darling little mini books on etsy the other day. Sarah from loves2smock hand makes these mini albums herself, at home, often with 6 kids running amok. Now I don't need to tell you how impressive that is. I can barely find the time to scrap with only the one kid running around. Sarah tends to view things a little differently than most, she loves traditional crafting, but always has to take things "out of the box" and shake them up a little.

I like the way she shakes. Dressed up or nekkid, I'm thinking these minis will make excellent holiday gifts. So check them out at Sarah's Etsy shop (I so gotta get me one of those!)

Well, I was visiting over at my favorite freebie spot Summertime Designs, looking for some fab papers to spice up my latest scrapbook calendar project and was faced with Summer's latest post which simply brought a tear to my eye. Summer's freind Kari has a 7 month old daughter who has just been diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer.

Summer is putting together a gift basket full of goodies for Kari and her family to lift their spirits. Wouldn't it be great to be a part of this awesome project. Can you believe that the Holocaust Museum Houston have put this project together to collect 1.5 million handmade butterflies for an exhibit to remember the same number children who died in the Holocaust.
They have collected approx 400, 000. intense!

A CD mini scrapbook i made the other day... at least its the beginning of one. There are still a few pages to go yet. I flicked through my stash of 10 million photos (it never seems to lessen) and picked out a few of the kid at play. love that pic of her on the bike, she's a regular easy rider. Holy moly!, I just realized that photo is two bikes old... she's on to her third bike now... sheez time flies.
Made a cd mini scrapbook tutorial to share as well while i was at it. Girl can multitask, lol.

Marion's camera battery dies about half way through (don't you just hate it when that happens) so she skips to the end but it is definately still worth a look or two.

Now Why have I never seen this blog before? It's been around for a while, i must simply have my blinders on. The blog is Some Assembley Required! and the name of the game is "Monthy altered art challenges"
Each month a new challenge is posted and you get to join in the fun and get creative while at the same time competing for a pack of scrapbooking goodness. Jan, Patti and Joelene are the designers of this blog so get on over and check it out. I will be adding this one to the blog roll for future reference.

poking around in the land of mini albums and scrapbooks and i stumbled upon a couple of funky finds.

A fabric swatch book that you can fill with all your pretty fabrics. theres a cute little tutorial to show you how to make this baby. you can make some cutsie little touchy feely books for the little kids. or a memory swatch book of your favourite t-shirts that are past their used by date...

Any body got any other ideas for this handy little idea?..... hmmmm
